Galaxy S4 Zoom Review

Galaxy S4 Zoom: More camera than phone

Just after Nokia Launched its Lumia 1020, Samsung launched its new “Galaxy S4 Zoom”. While both struggle for imaging prowess smartphone, both of these devices are really very different. Adding massive Zoom lens on the back of these smartphones isn't the most ergonomic of design decisions.

The Galaxy S4 Zoom is the latest addition to the Galaxy range, but this phone/camera leads to some confusion on what it actually is and where it sits amongst other Samsung Smartphone/Camera products.

Despite the flagship branding, we'd have to admit that it is a fully fledged smartphone with a decent camera attached to it.

For justification of my point, following are the specs below:

Android 4.2 Jelly Bean

On the first look, it’s a galaxy s4 mini with a huge camera attached to it. It sits best in the hand when used as a camera, but it looks a little bit awkward if you make a call without using a Bluetooth. The Galaxy S4 Zoom's is a really a bulky phone, made up of glossy plastic white/black exterior body. The built up finishing of this phone is also cheap. You really need to hold it tighter if you are playing any app or while chatting on the phone.
But if you are a Camera geekery person or a traveler, this phone might be a good choice for you.

The Zoom has all the advantage with a 10x optical zoom, as a general rule of thumb, optical zoom produces higher-quality images than digital zoom, among other things. It also has the larger sensor of 1/2.33-inch, which you find in the majority of standard compact cameras.

With Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 installed out of the box there is plenty of power and scope for customization with the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom. There are lots of pre-installed software settings within the camera that allows the users to take a better picture as an expert. In short this device is ready for basic hobby photographers and travelers instead, as a sort of stepping stone between smartphone and pocket able camera.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom comes with 4.3-inch of Super AMOLED display at 960 x 540, that is 256 pixels density per inch. Inside you’ve got 8GB of storage (of which approx. 5GB is available) is unlikely to be enough. But it also supports up to 64 Gigabyte of micro SD card plenty of storage space for images.
Another major aspect of this camera/phone is its battery. The Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom comes with 2330mAh battery, which is removable. To access the batter you need to remove the whole back cover. The cover is easy to open too, but check whether it is securely locked in place or not when closed. But even after having the 2330mAh of battery, it doesn't last long. Just if you brows internet or movies take some calls, listen to music or play some games on 3G you can get between 7-9-hours of battery backup
As a final Verdict Galaxy S4 Zoom has us equally as charmed as the S4 Mini - it's snappy, great to use, has plenty enough power and is a decent size. But as a camera the Galaxy S4 Zoom performs like reasonable standard compact cameras. In short if you have a compact camera you don’t require Galaxy S4 Zoom unless you want to stand out from the crowd.

The overall design of Asus Memo Pad HD7 is something similar to the Nexus 7 (but around 40g lighter) though we figure out some people will be less keen on the Asus MeMo Pad's smooth glossy plastic casing, despite the fact it feels pretty sturdy. Even after this, tablet didn't feel slippery. But even with these looks, the different color back panel options give the ASUS MeMO Pad HD 7 a fashion-forward design
The tablet also packs rear-facing speaker bar, which features ASUS SonicMaster technology, produced pretty loud audio for a small living room. To enhance the Audio experience Asus Memo Pad is pre-loaded with ASUS's AudioWizard software which allows you to adjust separate volume settings, such as Movie, Gaming or Music Mode ETC. But these audio differences can be easily noticeable only on expandable speakers.

The Asus Memo Pad HD7 is capable of 720p HD playback with sharper and brighter image processing. Viewing at different angles on this tablet is also pretty much fine. The best part of Asus MeMO Pad HD 7 is, it includes a unique screen-tuning utility app called ASUS Splendid that allows you to adjust the hue and saturation, color temperature while toggling Vibrant Mode. Perhaps only complaint is the glossy screen
finish which reflects a lot of light.
There is a 5 mega pixel camera with autofocus which is capable of capturing 1080p video, but there's no flash module. Its camera includes a lot of helpful features like HDR shooting, Panorama Mode, Landscape mode and Burst Mode. But this type of camera isn't bad for such a budget tablet.
Based on what we've seen so far, the Asus Memo Pad HD7 is a serious contender to the Nexus 7. But if you're on a strict budget, the Asus Memo Pad HD7 is a better choice.

Nexus 7 Full HD

Google Nexus 7 Goes Full HD

Its Highlighting Features are:-
  • Runs on latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean Operating system
  • Full HD Resolution
  • Better Graphics
  • Its super Sleek Design
  • Front and Rear Camera
  • Wireless charging
  • Batter Battery Life
  • Value for money

New Full HD Nexus 7

After the first Big Hit of Nexus 7, Google Inc on Wednesday announced its new refreshed version. As expected the new Nexus 7 runs on the latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system. Soon Android 4.3 Jelly Bean will be available on Nexus 10, Nexus 4 and Galaxy Nexus smartphones, along with Galaxy S4 and HTC One too.

The new Nexus 7 comes with faster Qualcomm Inc Snapdragon processor and a 1920 x 1200 of higher display resolution and with 5 mega pixel camera and a 1.2 megapixel of front facing camera for video call/chat.

                                                        Click to Play

The Tablet is using the Adreno 320 GPU Graphic chip (which is used in Samsung galaxy s4) with 2 Gigabyte of RAM for smooth performance. It also support for the dual band 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi and wireless charging using any Qi-Compatible charger.

It is also the First device to support the latest version of OpenGl ES: 3.0 but in order to see any notable difference game developer need to actually work on their programs. But definitely the frame rate on the new Google Nexus 7 Tablet will be higher than the Galaxy S4 or similar to Sony Xperia Tablet Z.

On the other hand look wise Google Nexus 7 Full HD is much thinner and lighter device with lesser curve, which make you feel great and cosy if you have larger hands. While watching movie or playing games in the landscape mode you feel less stress due its slimmer and lighter design. The controls are still made of plastic but they are very responsive and easy to press.

Over all Nexus 7 will be the best performing 7-inch tablet at least for a while with its entire new feature. But Asian consumer is always concerned with the price tag of a device rather than its feature. Currently it is consider that the 16 Gigabyte of with Wi-Fi only tablet comes in the approx. 18000 Rs and 32 Gigabyte Wi-Fi-only model coming around 23940 Rs, which is a fairly good price for Indian market. Look for the more impression over the next few days.
